Desert-proof

Desert-proof

Yesterday I tested StitchBuddy with the new macOS 10.14 “Mojave” (beta 7).

While there were some glitches with the very first preview of Apple’s new macOS, StitchBuddy is now working flawlessly, without any update required. I tested not only the main application, but its Quick Look and Spotlight plugins, and all Automator actions.

The only hick-up I found is a confirmation required in Automator when using 3rd-party actions … without authorization by the user an action cannot be added to any workflow. Unfortunately the confirmation window is only shown when clicking on an action, not when directly dragging it. But hey, macOS is still in beta phase and things might change until it will be published … for better or for worse.

StitchBuddy leaves Facebook

StitchBuddy leaves Facebook

StitchBuddy’s Facebook page will be deactivated due to Facebook’s intransparency about compliance to European’s General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

The Court of Justice of the European Union (Europäischer Gerichtshof, EuGH) has decided that publishers of Facebook pages are jointly responsible for the processing of data of visitors (press release).

Embroidery goes mobile!

Embroidery goes mobile!

StitchBuddy HD has become a Swiss Army knife for machine embroiderers, with all editing features on iPads, and now even on iPhones…

Starting today StitchBuddy HD 2.15 is available as a free download in Apple’s App Store, coming with various enhancements:

As it has been quiet for some time I’d like to tell you about the current development of StitchBuddy, which is keeping me busy for the last and definitely for the next weekends…

StitchBuddy HD and View will be combined into a single application, working on iPhones and iPads with identical features. So finally you will be able to convert and combine designs and even make modifications on iPhones. On iPads the app is going to use an optional split view, providing a great overview of your gallery while editing a design. Performance will be improved, and you will be able to search for designs in subfolders, and select all stitches of one color.

10th Anniversary

10th Anniversary

Happy Birthday, StitchBuddy!

At January 4th, 2008, I released the first version of StitchBuddy’s predecessor.

JEFview was a QuickLook plugin, originally written to preview designs of my wife’s brand-new Janome MC350e on the Apple iBook she was using. JEFview was a free download, and because of many user requests it was followed by PESviewQL for Brother embroidery machines. I combined both plugins and created StitchBuddy, supporting more file formats and offering editing functions.

Website reloaded!

Website reloaded!

StitchBuddy is starting the new year with a fresh website design: Actually I became a little tired of its former look, which was very pure, but somehow old fashioned…

I’m still maintaining the site using RapidWeaver from Realmac, separating web content from its design without running a full-fledged content management system. For my purpose it’s the perfect solution and I was able to migrate all former content to the new Ruby design from Elixir with only a little tweaking.
