Back to the roots
Creating designs is challenging StitchBuddy’s capabilities, which was never planned as an embroidery digitizer, but for editing existing stitch files.
The “Add Shape” or “Add Text” function were intended for simple objects (e.g. knockdown stitches or an irregular basting) or for small monograms, not for complex designs. Unfortunately I was not able to properly communicate their limitations, and unfulfilled assumptions were leading to frustrations - of customers and myself - sometimes even resulting in refunds.
Enhanced digitizing capabilities would require a completely different user interface and contradict to the app’s current concept, working on stitch files. Adding these features at sufficient quality and competing with other embroidery digitizers, is beyond my resources and would harm the app’s nature as a hobby project for hobbyists.
I will keep StitchBuddy’s capabilities to generate stitches maintanined (including the corresponding in-app purchase), but won’t enhance it and focus again on the app’s original intention - editing existing designs: There are so many open ideas, and I think it’s better to offer a well-defined functionality at good quality (and at a reasonable price) than raise expectations which are hardly met.
Thanks for your understanding and loyalty: I hope you share this decision, which is my way to face reality and offer transparency.
