StitchBuddy 3.7.1 fixes memory leaks

StitchBuddy 3.7.0 wasn’t releasing memory when windows were closed, causing a continuously increasing RAM allocation. This bug was introduced with the new user interface in November last year, and it is corrected, now.

Actually, this issue was found by coincidence, when a customer reported massive memory consumption of the StitchBuddy Thumbnail process, even causing an “out of application memory“ error: It seems to be a seldom, but general issue, especially on Macs with huge RAM, and couldn’t be attributed specifically to StitchBuddy’s Thumbnail extension. Nevertheless I implemented some safety measures to (hopefully) circumvent this situation.

Maybe even more concerning: While investigating and testing I found “Tahoe“ allocating way more memory for StitchBuddy than any previous macOS version did - for the app itself and with every opened window. Maybe that’s related to Apple’s new “Liquid Glass“ UI? I filed a corresponding bug report with Apple, providing detailed information to analyze, and hopefully macOS 26 will be improved regarding its memory consumption…
