Same but different - StitchBuddy’s Website

This post will address some technical change behind StitchBuddy’s website - for those who are interested in news from the “machine room“. Be warned, it will contain some serious mumbo jumbo! I apologize in advance to all the others and promise: Next time I will focus on embroidery topics, again…

StitchBuddy Knowledge Base

StitchBuddy Knowledge Base

Finding information about StitchBuddy has become much easier!

StitchBuddy’s support articles (FAQs and video tutorials) have been moved into a knowledge base, which is not only offering some navigation similar to the previous pages, but also features a full-text search: You can enter one or more keywords of your problem, and the search result will show all relevant articles, and each article includes links to all related posts in the same category. You can also browse through the navigation, learning much more about StitchBuddy

StitchBuddy Community goes live!

StitchBuddy Community goes live!

Finally, StitchBuddy users have a home base to connect and share experiences!

Over the years StitchBuddy has built up quite a user base, and all the time I was looking for options to host a community: A public space to share news, collect ideas and provide help - not only by email, but in discussions with others.

Website secured

You might have noticed the little padlock in your web browsers address bar when visiting this website: Finally I updated StichBuddy’s website to use TLS encryption to protect its communication with your web browser.

Without a user login, web shop etc. no crucial private data is transmitted when visiting this website. Nevertheless it is a good - and more and more common - practice to encrypt web traffic and I am happily supporting this initiative.

StitchBuddy leaves Facebook

StitchBuddy leaves Facebook

StitchBuddy’s Facebook page will be deactivated due to Facebook’s intransparency about compliance to European’s General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

The Court of Justice of the European Union (Europäischer Gerichtshof, EuGH) has decided that publishers of Facebook pages are jointly responsible for the processing of data of visitors (press release).

Website reloaded!

Website reloaded!

StitchBuddy is starting the new year with a fresh website design: Actually I became a little tired of its former look, which was very pure, but somehow old fashioned…

I’m still maintaining the site using RapidWeaver from Realmac, separating web content from its design without running a full-fledged content management system. For my purpose it’s the perfect solution and I was able to migrate all former content to the new Ruby design from Elixir with only a little tweaking.

Feature Overview

Today I added a feature comparison table, which summarizes all functions provided by the StitchBuddy family. Here you have an easy overview how the products compare regarding their differences, and functions in common.

As a consequence I removed the feature tables on the individual product pages.

New section "User Comments"

StitchBuddy has received some very positive feedback, both, by email and on the web. I will not reveal personal mails without permission, but I decided to link public user comments / reviews in a separate section. There you’ll find Jim’s review and some other opinions about StitchBuddy. Check it out!

Unreachable for the last week

Due to a misconfiguration all StitchBuddy email addresses were unreachable for the last week. This effected PayPal payment notifications as well as individual mails. Fortunately I received a user’s request today and was able to fix the issue and send the pending license codes. Please accept my sincere apologies for this issue, which was totally my fault.

If you tried to contact me since July, 14th, please re-send your email!

Website relaunched

I relaunched StitchBuddy’s website with a complete new layout: The old version was designed with Apple’s iWeb, which I found sufficient for a small product page when I started with JEFview over two years ago.

In the meantime StitchBuddy, its website, and my requirements have grown and I wasn’t satisfied with the more or less limited iWeb look. When I realized the website couldn’t be viewed with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, I decided to switch the web design (although MSIE users aren’t in focus as potential StitchBuddy customers).
